Going Nude in Mallorca

Going Nude in Mallorca

A Four-Day Itinerary

[with some humorous personal anecdotes]

Earlier this week, we came back from an 11 day vacation. One of the many places we visited was Mallorca, Spain! Mallorca is one of the three Balearic Islands off the eastern coast of Spain (close to Barcelona). The other two islands are Ibiza and Menorca. Because it was further down south, the temperature was still in the 70’s-low 80’s. Which would have been GREAT if it hadn’t rained on us for two out of the four days that we were there!! -_-

Haha in all seriousness, the rain may have stopped us from laying out on the beach, but we visited several charming towns and hiked up one of the Mallorcan mountains.

We flew RyanAir from Dublin to Palma, and arrived at our charming AirBNB at around 2 AM on Friday morning. Needless to say, we were exhausted! Randy and I rented the most awesome car EVER! I loved it. I don’t think Randy can say the same, as he was constantly cursing at the car, and calling it a “piece of s#!*” But I thought it was awesome. Whatevs.

DAY 1:

After waking up pretty late, we had a lazy breakfast at the AirBNB and headed toward the northern tip of the island to Playa de Formentor. I have to say – this beach was super crowded, and although the water was crystal clear, I can’t say that I enjoyed it too much. What I WAS completely obsessed with was our AirBNB. Over the last couple of months, I’ve stayed at some amazing AirBNB’s. But this one takes the cake. Fedra, our host, put so much time and attention into this home. There was even a pet bunny on the property named Hugo! He was super friendly, and let me pet him :).

I wish I could just post all the pictures of this AirBNB but here is the link, so you can see for yourself! There were several rooms within one big house, so it was more like a bed and breakfast. But all the guests were very respectful of the house and the common spaces. There was even a full kitchen where we could cook on our own if we wanted to! After eating out for so many days, it was nice to simply be able to buy some groceries and eat some fresh fruit and eggs for breakfast.

Back to the beach – Playa de Formentor is VERY popular, and maybe if we had gone earlier, we would have enjoyed it more. It’s absolutely beautiful, but there were just way too many people. Later that day, we drove up the famous winding road to Cap de Formentor – the lighthouse at the northern tip of the island. I’m so glad we had a tiny smart car! Those were some very narrow roads!

DAY 2:

Rain.

We actually went to a small town called Valldemossa and thought we’d explore the town and some of the museums because it was pouring. Interestingly, this is where Chopin and George Sand stayed for several months while Chopin (who had tuberculosis) was trying to improve his health. He completed some of his most famous pieces here. [Nerdy Miki is coming out today].

The town itself was very charming. After the downpour of rain, I convinced Randy to go on a hike with me. 😛 He may not have been happy at first, but once we got to the top of the mountain behind the village, we got to look out on a pretty great view…of clouds. Haha. The clouds were so low that we were literally in them.

DAY 3:

Rain.

Day 3 was our lazy day. We went to the beach for a whole 5 seconds before deciding to drive back home. Thank goodness we got back in the car when we did because it started downpouring like 2 minutes later. I cried watching ‘No Strings Attached.’ I was also feeling really constipated and bloated. The half pound burger with bacon and a fried egg that I ate for dinner did NOT help. Is this TMI?

Sorry.

DAY 4:

Our last day in Mallorca was FINALLY sunny! Perfect blue skies with beautiful sunshine, which (of course) meant we were heading to the beach to soak up some of those rays before we returned to depressing, rainy Germany. The first thing we did when we got to the beach was get BUTT ASS NAKED! Just like all the other Europeans. It was no big deal, obviously. Girls were running around with their boobs flopping up and down, and guys with their dicks swinging around.

Haha.

Just kidding.

There were many women that chose to go topless, but other than that, I only saw like two fully nude people. And they were super respectful about it.

We visited another popular beach on the southern end of the island called Playa Es Trenc and Ses Covetes. This was my favorite beach, hands down. We walked until we found a stretch of white sand that wasn’t as populated and plopped down with some picnic food for the rest of the afternoon. To wrap up our trip, we had a nice dinner at Cassai Beach House in a town called Colonia de Sant Jordi. The restaurant had amazing vibes, a view to die for (can you tell I’m all about those views?), and delicious food.

Even with a couple rainy days, we still had an amazing time in Mallorca, and we definitely plan on visiting Ibiza and Menorca in the near future!

***If you’re still reading this, thanks for proving that clickbait works! 😛 The first picture was actually from Galveston in 2013. No bikini pics this trip!***

Do you have any amazing island experiences? Share them below! I’d love to hear any suggestions on which Mediterranean islands (or anywhere else in the world) to visit next 😀
